Last fall I started to get into paper cutting and have kept doing it for several different projects.
This is one of those projects.
In my illustration class we had to choose a myth from another culture and illustrate it. I chose the Maori creation myth.
I am not a Maori person, and do not intend to represent the Maori people, these images are made by a small, white, canadian girl. They are inspired by the carvings and motifs in Maori art but do not intend to copy them. I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't want to speak for something that isn't mine.
Anyways. Something that is mine are these papercuts...they are 11x17 inches and after a friend asked me to time...on average they take about 6 hours or more each. I really shouldn't have timed myself...
