Poison Juice

I painted this little guy up (8x10 wood panel) for a Christmas gift:

Loookit him, all proud of himself.

I like the way this drawing came out, but I would like to relate to you, dear readers, how badly I put this together. I'm typing this out, because I'm sure it's going to happen to someone else, and maybe they can learn from my mistakes. APPARENTLY WINDSOR & NEWTON BLACK INK AND GLOSS MEDIUM DON'T JIVE. As soon as I brushed a layer over my line work to seal it, it disintegrated like a temporary tattoo that was pulled off before it stuck. This lead to me putting way more time into this than I thought I would. Other than destroying my lines, this incompatibility left me without a good medium to redo my lines with. My acrylics are old and gross and not very smooth. I ended up mixing ink and acrylic to get an in-between-sticky ink. It worked mostly, was really inconsistent and still broke off in places. Sos anways, I think the moral of this painting parable is that I need to get a fixative, or some fluid acrylics I can line with, or stick to drawing with ink on paper.

Sketchadump

I went to visit my wonderful parents in Kelowna this last weekend. It was snowy and lovely and I had a good time. On the way home I had lots of time to doodle. But I didn't bring a pencil sharpener and the road got bumpier and bumpier.

Coming soon: photos from the Ill'in DECK SHOW
cheers

I drew this at Canzine today while hanging out with my friend M. I met so many neat people, got so much awesome swag and doodled this:
Met this talented lady: Sydney More of Mangy Cur Press
Bought my favorite comic of the day from Rebecca Dart. (IT WAS BATTLE KITTENS!)
And much more.
It was magic.

What month is it?

It's MOVEMBER.
November has been taken over by moustache growing competitions and partying to raise funds for cancer research...and that's pretty okay. So here's what I'm up to for movember so far:

These little titbits are for The Fall's Movember party! The deets should be up on the website, or perhaps facebook (like maybe here). Gonna be fuun.
Also in moustache news, I'll be in an art show to raise funds for cancer research on yaletown in downtown Vancouver this month, so watch out for info on that aswell.

bumble bumble

A little doodle I did at work today. it's teeny:

Also, I thought I'd start sharing some of my inspiration, as in other artist's I admire. I like it when other blogs do that, so I'm going to too.
So Dave Cooper paints crazy weird ladies and I love it. Be warned, those easily offended may not. He's a killer painter though, and his drawing style is wicked rad. But don't just read my list of positive adjectives, go check it out.

keep on keeping on

So many unbelievable things have happened since my last post ages ago. Most recent: I drew this:
Less recently: I moved in with an awesome fella, managed to gain employment, acquired two sweet little rats, and I STARTED A TATTOO APPRENTICESHIP. YEAH, YOU READ IT. I'm extremely excited to be apprenticing at the Fall Tattooing! I've only been there a short while, so my experience hasn't been very art based yet, but when it starts to be, I'll be sure to document my progress. Tattooing has been a career goal of mine for quite some time, so this is a truly awesome opportunity for me. We'll see how it goes.
Also, a heads up, I'll be at Canzine West peddlin' my art wares, so come on over and say hi! I believe it's on Sunday, November 13th, but do check.
Anyways,
keep on keepin' on

hippy dippy

HOLY DEER. I have been so so so busy lately. Ever since I moved two months ago, I've barely been on the internet. It's weird.
But there is excellent news that goes with this! I'm working on a lot of projects right now, here's a recently finished one for DIVERSITY FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND! Huzzah hippy art.

callarpitter of thanks

yeah, you heard right.

I saw a really cool Alice in Wonderland print in a shop the other day that had the caterpillar as a fancy gentlman and I kinda liked it. If I find out who did it I'll for sure add it to this post.

Also, I'd like to mention, (if anyone reads the words part of this blog) that I'm extremely flattered and grateful to everyone who's viewing this blog. I checked the stats page the other day and alison wonderland got a fifth of all of its cumulative pageviews from the last two years in the last month. HOLY CATTLE. Thank you to everyone checks this page out, you're the coolest.
If you have a blogger account let's be friends.

I'm going to think of a way to get you all involved.

love

It's SATYRICAL, get it?

So people keep telling me about this Vancouver legend that I would totally love a guy who plays bagpipes with running stilts made like deer legs. I've never seen him, but I believe them. This isn't him. I don't know what he looks like.

Awareness is Important

The other night I was at a spoken word thing, and a friend of mine reminded me how much I love:

That friend and his fancy works I think are here, but if I can find his actual poem to go along with this, I'll link it.
cheers dears
I think I'll make a sticker out of this.

Stick Them Up

A while back I bought some sticker paper and was amazed at how excellent it is. Anything you want- as a sticker. And so that's what these are all about:

The reason his last one here is so gray so that you can see the decorative edge of the sticker.
