This piece is constructed out of paper and decorated with ink, water colour, and gouache.
I hope to film both of these books in full pop-up action within the next few months, so keep a heads up.
cheers & enjoy!
EDIT
Thank you everyone! I am very glad that this piece has amused many people. I am hugely flattered by peoples kind comments and offers to buy this piece. Unfortunately, it is not currently available for purchase. It had a home before I posted the pictures.
However, I do plan to video document all of my pop up books so that everyone can view them.
Thanks again

ReplyDeleteI may have got an email from you? I'm sorry about the late reply to this, I don't get any sort of alert about comments. Unfortunatly It already had a home when I posted this, but thanks for your interest!
DeleteIt would be awesome if you could self-publish this and sell it on a larger scale. I know I would love this, too, and I know a fair amount of people who would love to have something like this, too.
DeleteJust a thought.
This is gorgeous and ridiculously creative. When I saw it on i09, I said "unicorns and science, the convergence is complete!" Thanks for sharing.
This might be the prettiest thing I've ever seen. Such exquisite work, both morbid and beautiful. I especially like the little deer on the box top, the expression of the stretched-out neck, the butterflies around the eyes and every inch of the forest inside. I'd like to have it as a central piece in my home.
ReplyDeleteWould you please let me share one of the pictures on my blog? I won't re-upload it, just use your original url and link back to this post. I'd love to show it to everyone I know.
Sincerely,
Alicia

ReplyDeleteAmazing...
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaat? I wish I could take the things out of my brain & apply them as well as you did. This is amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt is such a wonderfully touching piece,so victorian on the outside and inside all delicate pastels and childlike faeryland images, from the dead unicorn foetus to the butterflies.. This would be a marvellous tool to use in the explanation of the concept of death to children..
ReplyDeleteThat's a really neat idea, thank you!
DeleteThat is genuinely one of the most beautiful things I have ever, EVER seen.
ReplyDeleteElegant and amazing!
ReplyDeleteNature recycles its own....beauty comes from death.
